The Empire State building lights up in red during the last night of the #HeroesShineBright campaign to symbolize a red heartbeat and to bring global awareness regarding those who are involved in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The nine-day initiative started on April 24 in New York and each night a different colour is used to salute various groups including healthcare staff, transport workers as well as police and military personnel. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer offers a state apology for the Grenfell Tower fire disaster that killed 72 people in 2017, as the release of a final report found the deaths were avoidable.
