Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako travel by carriage down The Mall in London to Buckingham Palace, escorted by a guard of honour and accompanied by King Charles and Queen Camilla. This marks the beginning of the couple's three day state visit to the United Kingdom. It is the first state visit to the UK by a Japanese head of state since 1998 and, unusually for such a visit, comes during a general election campaign. IMAGES
