The magnitude 7.8 quake hit on Monday, 6 February 2022, close to the Syrian border. The earthquake and subsequent aftershocks killed more than 11,200 people. A Sikh priest along with members and employees of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) prayed at the Teja Singh Samundri Hall at the Golden Temple complex - one of the holiest sites in Sikhism.
