US President Joe Biden's Middle East advisor is holding talks in the region on a new, possibly longer deal for the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for a pause in fighting in Gaza, the White House says. SOUNDBITE
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says he would work to prolong a pause in the fighting in Gaza on an upcoming visit to Israel. "Looking at the next couple of days, we'll be focused on doing what we can to extend the pause so that we continue to get more hostages out and more humanitarian assistance in," Blinken says after a NATO meeting in Brussels. SOUNDBITE
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg calls for a halt in the fighting in Gaza to be prolonged to allow for more aid and the release of hostages. "I call for an extension of the pause. This would allow for much needed relief to the people of Gaza and the release of more hostages," Stoltenberg tells journalists in Brussels. SOUNDBITE
"A decision on a pause was not made today," Fed Chair Jerome Powell says during a press conference when asked whether the US Federal Reserve has made the decision to pause rate hikes. SOUNDBITE
