French street artist JR has taken over the Trocadero esplanade in Paris, to present an alternative view of the Eiffel Tower by using paper collages to create an optical illusion of the famous landmark. IMAGES
Banksy's "rat" stencil, stolen from near the Centre Pompidou in September, is back on display in Paris - albeit in a reproduced form. "In street art, there are only reproductions because often the originals are made at night, vandalized the next day or ripped off," explains Hazis Vardar, manager of a street art exhibition at the Espace Lafayette-Drouot. Street artist Banksy claims a fifth mural in as many days, this time of two pelicans above a fish and chip shop in Walthamstow, North East London. The pelicans continue the elusive artist’s animal theme – on Monday it was a goat in Kew, South West London; Tuesday, two elephants in Chelsea, West London; Wednesday, three monkeys in Shoreditch, East London; Thursday’s wolf painted onto a satellite dish in Peckham, South East London was quickly stolen.
