Usually very busy, the Puerta del Sol in Madrid is almost empty as Spain continues its quarantine in an effort to stem the spread of the new coronavirus. The outbreak is spreading in the country, and the death toll has surpassed 2,000. IMAGES
Madrid's Puerta del Sol, normally full of people, is empty as the national lockdown continues in order to halt the spread of the coronavirus. Madrid remains the worst-hit area, accounting for 5,637 cases, or 41 percent of the infections in Spain, while the number of deaths there rose to 390 deaths -- around two-thirds of the national total.
