German trains suffer major disruption after 'sabotage' on the network

An act of "sabotage" targeting communication infrastructure brought rail traffic in northern Germany to a standstill on Saturday morning (8 October), according to rail operator Deutsche Bahn. The halt in service affected the departure of passengers at Berlin's main railway station as, for almost three hours, all high-speed and regional connections in the north of the country, as well as freight traffic, were interrupted. À la suite d’une attaque coordonnée des installations de plusieurs lignes à grandes vitesses, le trafic des TGV est fortement perturbé. Les perturbations vont s’étendre sur le week-end entier. 800 000 voyageurs sont concernés d’après la SNCF. Plusieurs lignes TGV ont subi des attaques malveillantes un peu avant 6h du matin ce 26 juillet 2024. Il ne s’agit pas d’une cyberattaque, mais d’incendies visant les installations de plusieurs lignes à grandes vitesses. À la veille d’un grand week-end de départs et retours de vacances et à quelques heures de la cérémonie d’ouverture des Jeux Olympiques, les conséquences vont être lourdes pour l’ensemble des voyageurs qui avaient prévu de prendre le train sur plusieurs axes. D’ailleurs, la SNCF invite les voyageurs à « reporter leur voyage et de ne pas se rendre en gare ». La circulation des TGV est ainsi fortement dégradée sur les axes Atlantique, Nord et Est de la France. De nombreux trains vont être supprimés tout au long du week-end. Le retour à la normale n’est pas prévu avant lundi 29 juillet, selon la SNCF.
