UN chief says rich nations must achieve net zero carbon quicker, by 2040

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres calls on wealthy countries to move up their goals of achieving carbon neutrality "as close as possible to 2040". Guterres, who will hold a climate action summit in September, again stresses the role of the Group of 20 -- the world's largest economies and Europe -- which together are responsible for 80 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. UN rights chief warns world risks 'dystopian future'

The UN rights chief warns that the world needs to change paths to avoid a future filled with military escalation, repression, disinformation, deepening inequality and rampant climate change. 'Mpox vaccines should arrive in DR Congo within days', says WHO Chief

A first delivery of mpox vaccines is expected to arrive in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the coming days, the World Health Organization's chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says during a UN press briefing in Geneva. Fed chief says 'confidence has grown' that inflation fight is on track

Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell says that his "confidence has grown" that the battle against inflation is on track. "After a pause earlier this year, progress toward our 2 percent objective has resumed.
