The 55-year-old disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for leading a decades-long effort to recruit and trap teenagers and women for sex, will appeal the sentence, says his attorney, Jennifer Bonjean. SOUNDBITE

Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko arrives at a Kyiv court. Prosecutors are appealing against a bail decision freeing the ex-Ukrainian president, who is accused of treason. A Moscow appeal court has upheld a prison sentence imposed on chief Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny after he returned to Russia from Germany last month.
