The US Coast Guard plans to end its search after finding five people dead from a capsized boat off the coast of Florida, in which 39 people were reported missing, captain Jo-Ann Burdian announces at a press conference from Miami. The boat left Bimini in the Bahamas on Saturday and capsized after hitting rough seas 45 miles (65 kilometers) east of the city of Fort Pierce. SOUNDBITE
One man has died and about 30 other people have been rescued in the Channel after their boat ran into difficulties while trying to cross from northern France to Britain on Friday, prosecutors say. The victim is believed to be in his 20s and to be of Sudanese origin, the prosecutor's office in Boulogne-sur-Mer said, adding that the others had been rescued in waters off the village of Berck.
