Brexit champion and leader of Reform UK Party Nigel Farage is announced to have won election to the UK parliament, in his eighth attempt, winning a seat for his upstart anti-immigration Reform UK party in Clacton. Nigel Farage says he will stand as a candidate for the anti-immigration Reform UK party at the UK general election next month, after initially ruling out running. "I have changed my mind... I am going to stand," Farage, 60, told a news conference. Farage, a Eurosceptic politician and now a television presenter, campaigned for decades for Britain's withdrawal from the European Union and was a key figure in the 2016 Brexit referendum. He is a former leader of the Brexit Party and the anti-immigration party UKIP. SOUNDBITE
The European Commission proposes a three-year delay on tariffs on electric vehicles that are sold to, or imported from, Britain that was due to apply from January. The commission, the EU's executive arm, says it decided a one-off extension after the automotive industry raised concerns about the massive costs that would arise from a post-Brexit 10-percent tariff.
