Hundreds of thousands of Hindu pilgrims take a dip in the holy Ganges river to mark the beginning of Kumbh Mela- the world’s largest religious gathering – amid fears of coronavirus pandemic. Pilgrims from across India plunged into the sacred river at designated spots in the northern city of Haridwar, where the current mega event is being held. Anxious parents wait for news outside a primary school in central Kenya, after an overnight fire in a dormitory kills at least 17 children and injured several others. Police say the blaze in Nyeri county's Hillside Endarasha Academy broke out at around midnight, while the children were sleeping. There are fears there could be more victims in the damaged building.
